Therapy With Penelope

Who I Am…

I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in trauma-focused and evidence-based therapy for adolescents and adults. I am a compassionate, experienced, and inclusive therapist with a passion for collaborating and a firm belief in the possibility for change at any age/stage. I am a queer-identified therapist and advocate for the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion.

I employ warmth, humor, creativity and level-headedness in my therapeutic work. Patients appreciate that therapy with me can be both a structured experience with specific goals and research-backed skills-building, as well as a safe space for exploration at their pace.

I have worked as a social worker and psychotherapist in a variety of settings, including schools, community clinics, hospitals and psychiatric departments. An interest in trauma treatment led me to the Center for Traumatic Stress at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where I was trained and certified in TF-CBT by the model’s founders, Drs. Anthony Mannarino and Judith Cohen. I also have a background in substance abuse research, and my academic writing on international models of substance abuse treatment has been published in the Journal of Social Work Practice in the Addictions.

I received my M.S. in Social Work from New York University. Prior to joining the world of social work, I received my B.A. in Theatre and Vocal Performance from the University of Southern California, and spent several years performing as a vocalist and actor in venues throughout the United States and Europe.

I split my time between New York City and Westchester County, and when not working am equally likely to be found dancing with chosen family or on walking adventures with my family.
